We have been hurtling through the Flat season at a breakneck pace, and now seems a good time to take stock of where we stand as we prepare for one of our favourite race meetings of the year here at bettrends; the York Ebor Meeting.

Since our last bettrends bulletin, the Royal Review, we have had two standalone services in the shape of the July Service and the Glorious Goodwood Service, both of which ended in profit. Let us start with the July meeting at Newmarket, in which we walked away with three winners over a successful weekend. However, the first day was a struggle and we didn’t get off to the start we wanted. The Thursday NAP was Tower Of London, who went down by just a head in the opener after Ryan Moore dropped the whip 2f from home; we really hoped this wasn’t a sign of things to come! However our NAP on Friday, Live Your Dream (5/2), would not suffer from the same bout of bad fortune and Kevin Stott kept it simple on Saeed Bin Suroor’s six-year-old, sitting just in behind the leaders before taking it up 2f from home and coming home in front rather cosily to give us our first winner of the meeting. Kevin Stott’s magical day at HQ continued and it felt like everything he touched would turn to gold, landing the lucky last for the bettrends team aboard Good Earth (10/1) to land the four-timer. As we arrived at the final day on Saturday, up step Shaquille, who has undoubtedly been the MVP for the bettrends team this season. Advised at 10/1 for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot before backing up in the July Cup at 3/1, Julie Camacho’s enigmatic sprinter has been the star of the show here at bettrends.

Our Handicap Breakers service would also join in on the fun at Newmarket, with the trends pointing members in the right direction for the Bunbury Cup. The shortlisted Biggles (5/1) was an impressive two length winner of the contest, with Awaal, also shortlisted, running well back in third. That Bunbury Cup success made it two winners in a row on our Handicap Breakers service, building on Calling The Wind’s (14/1) victory in the Northumberland Plate just two weeks earlier.

The next big meeting for the bettrends team was Glorious Goodwood, although the weather meant it was pretty far from glorious! However it was another successful meeting for us here at bettrends, with win or place returns on over half of our selections across the five days. It was the exciting two-year-olds which produced the most success for us at Goodwood, with Vandeek cruising to a comfortable success in the Richmond Stakes and Simon & Ed Crisford’s juvenile looks a real smart type; we can't wait to see where he goes next. It was Big Evs who cemented himself as the star juvenile for the bettrends team this season though. Following an electric win at Royal Ascot, when advised at 66/1 in the Windsor Castle, we stuck with Michael Appleby's Blue Point colt when a game victor of the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. It wasn’t just the juveniles that got us into the winners’ enclosure though, and Jm Jungle (6/1) was a strong winner of the lucky last on Thursday under Jason Hart; a jockey who has given us a lot of success this season. These winners were supplemented with a score of big-priced places at odds of 33/1, 20/1, 18/1 and many more. Aberama Gold was advised on the Saturday before Goodwood for our VIP members and duly obliged at odds of 7/1, but frustratingly we veered away from David O’Meara’s sprinter in the competitive Steward’s Cup just a week later. It was therefore not a welcome sight to see those white and red silks shine through the rain and mud across the winning line at Goodwood; we just hope some of our members kept the faith in him!

Another winner at the Shergar Cup last weekend for VIP members in the form of the very well backed, The Very Man (11/2), and the bettrends team could not be in better form heading on to the Knavesmire for the Ebor Service next week. York’s big meeting has always been one of our favourite race meetings, flat or jumps, and has historically been one of our best performing services. In the past two years alone, the bettrends team has amassed a whopping 41.9pts of profit at the Ebor meeting; we hope to continue that trend into 2023. In 2022 we advised five winners at the meeting; Streets Of Gold (8/1), Alpinista (2/1), Haskoy (5/1), State Occasion (5/1) and Kinross (5/1).

We arrive this year in much better form, and we can’t wait to get stuck into some fantastic racing.
