bettrends Bulletin - The Derby Service
After a terrific National Hunt Season has gone by, in which all standalone points-based services returned a profit (including a whopping +27.23pts profit for our Festive Service!), we have arrived at our first standalone service for the 2023 Flat Season in the form of the bettrends Derby Service.
A historic two days of racing in the British calendar which features two classics, the Oaks and the Derby, this service has historically been one of our best here at bettrends. We have been finding the winners in the marquee races since all the way back in 2019 with Defoe (advised 16/1 for the Coronation Cup) and Anthony Van Dyck (advised 8/1 for the Derby). It has not just been those Group 1 races in which we have tasted success though, and we are here to help you with those tricky handicaps across the card too and Rhoscolyn’s four-length demolition victory stands out as a highlight after the bettrends team advised the selection at 13/2.
The Derby meeting at Epsom is one of the most prestigious meetings in the whole racing calendar, and we look set to be treated to a star-studded cast again in 2023. The Group 1 Coronation Cup on Friday looks to be an absolute cracker with another horse looking to etch their name in the history books and join an illustrious roll of honour that features the likes of St Nicholas Abbey, Cracksman and Ghaiyyath. Leading trainer Aidan O’Brien will likely be represented by Point Lonsdale as he searches for a ninth victory in the contest, but that win will not come easy with Irish Derby winner Westover, the Gosden’s star filly Emily Upjohn and former St Leger winner Hurricane Lane amongst the entries.
Friday’s card is headlined by the first classic of the week, with the fillies taking centre stage in the Betfred Oaks. All of the talk has been concentrated on Savethelastdance following her jaw-dropping 22-length victory in the Cheshire Oaks and whether she can give Aidan O’Brien a fourth consecutive victory in the contest. The Gosdens have been the only stable able to break Ballydoyle’s stranglehold on the race in recent years, and Soul Sister’s scintillating success in the Musidora last time sets up a fantastic contest at Epsom. Throw in a Listed contest, and some ultra-competitive handicaps and we a treated to a tremendous day of racing; so why not join the bettrends team for the ride?
Then we arrive at Saturday, where we are treated to three Group contests headlined by the main event; the Betfred Derby, the most historic contest in all of the racing calendar and one of the most famous races in the world. This year’s renewal looks wide-open with tons of questions still to be answered. Can Auguste Rodin bounce back from Guineas disappointment? Can Military Order follow in the footsteps of his Derby-winning brother? Does the decision to supplement Passenger give us a key hint to his level of ability? Is Arrest seen to better effect on softer ground? We won’t fully know the answer to the multitude of questions until they turn Tattenham Corner and head towards the winning the post, but the bettrends team is on hand to give our answers and give you everything you need to enjoy a profitable Derby Meeting.
We also have our second Handicap Breakers race of the 2023 Flat Season in the shape of the always tricky Epsom Dash, a complete puzzle for punters but our tried and tested trends system is here to help. Our first race, the Victoria Cup, found Biggles for members, second at 12/1, and we bid to go one better in the Epsom Dash on Saturday. Last year, our trends system unearthed Mountain Peak for the race who would go on to finish second at a whopping price of 50/1, just held by a head.
The bettrends team will be on hand to provide you with expert race analysis and points-based betting advice across the two days, covering a minimum of five races each day, and you can find these services here.
